I swore I wouldn't write poetry for you. I guess I lied, Again. I said that when I heard your name I'd go "Who?" I have tried, In vain. I hoped that you would die, please do. I cried, In pain. I wished all this I never knew. It hurt my pride, With shame. I wanted you to be one of those precious few. I took your ride, I'm to blame. I believed every word I should have seen through. In you I did confide, I was lame. Now I've come to see I am you and you are me. From the heart I bleed inside. We're just the same.

You said we'd take some time before you left So that I would not feel bereft. You forgot to mention when. Perhaps somewhere between now and then? I do not know why I dared to hope. This is not a good way to cope. I'm sitting here waiting again. Should know by now not to rely on men. You still haven't mentioned anything since. I'm accustomed to this dull neglect. You wouldn't even give my mouth a rinse. I'd forgotten the ache of being a reject.
